Singapore — According to tech insiders, Singapore's proposal to invest over $743 million in artificial intelligence over the next five years might enhance its standing as a hub for global commerce and innovation.
Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced in his budget statement on Friday that Singapore will invest over one billion Singapore dollars over the next five years to advance the nation's artificial intelligence capabilities.
Managing partner of Southeast Asia at global management consulting firm Kearney Nithin Chandra said, "Surprisingly, nearly three-quarters of business leaders globally are ill-equipped for AI transformation, believing their preparations are limited by time, people, and money."
Chandra said, "This initiative will help ensure that businesses can take advantage of new opportunities and capitalize on the opportunities afforded by technological advancements."
According to Wong, Singapore would make an effort as part of the investment to guarantee access to the cutting-edge processors "that are so crucial to AI development and deployment."
He continued by saying that Singapore will establish AI centers of excellence in collaboration with top domestic and international businesses.
According to Jonathan Dixon, vice president and managing director of APAC at Cloudflare, a global provider of cloud services,
Singapore was among the principal nations to distribute an artificial intelligence plan in 2019. In December, the Southeast Asian country sent off the Public Simulated Intelligence Procedure 2.0 — a refreshed adaptation of its simulated intelligence drives, framing ways of setting up the economy to bridle and use simulated intelligence to enable specialists and organizations.

Singapore has "exceptionally high" potential as a worldwide computer-based intelligence center point as a result of a climate that prods development, Google
Cloud leader Caroline Gab told CNBC in a previous meeting.
